Industrial HVAC Technician

Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Mattawan, Michigan
.

This role involves overseeing and monitoring the operation of critical building systems including refrigeration, emergency backup systems, boilers, and related mechanical and electrical equipment. The position requires troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ensuring proper equipment function primarily during the first shift Monday through Friday with on-call and weekend rotation coverage.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repair work on site utility systems such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, softeners, pumps, motors, and valves
• Conduct routine tests and inspections on support equipment including water testing, chemical inventories, and brine levels
• Perform maintenance and repairs on operational equipment as required
• Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building systems and equipment
• Identify, operate, and utilize tools and equipment associated with mechanical systems, completing JHA and work permits
• Document all work performed in Computerized Maintenance Management System and communicate regularly with supervisor and chief engineer
• Order materials, maintain safety compliance, and ensure proper storage of hazardous materials

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with industrial‑sized HVAC equipment
• Experience with steam boilers up to 37.5 million BTUs
• Experience with water boilers up to 6 million BTUs
• Experience with chillers up to 1000 ton
• EPA Universal certification
• General understanding of computers and ability to perform rebuilds on pumps
• Ability to work independently and maintain accurate documentation

• Experience with chilled water systems greater than 500 tons of cooling
• Experience with steam boiler systems of 9,500 HP (32.5
  
  MMBTU)
• Experience with water boiler systems up to 1.8 MMBTU
