Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of highly automated manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, troubleshooting PLC-controlled automation systems, and supporting production through rapid response to equipment issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial automation, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment and automated production systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on manufacturing cells and production equipment.
  • Support production by troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC-related equipment issues.
  • Use a structured and methodical troubleshooting approach to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Communicate recurring equipment issues and downtime trends to Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Perform basic robot troubleshooting, adjustments, and recovery procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical components including motors, relays, switches, sensors, drives, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Interpret equipment drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals to assist with fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Replace faulty machine components including motors, relays, switches, ball screws, bearings, position sensing devices, pneumatic components, and other automation equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance crib inventory and work with maintenance stores to ensure critical spare parts availability.
  • Support Systems Technicians and production teams during equipment breakdowns and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the Tool Room to manufacture replacement components and implement equipment improvements.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, process improvements, and installation of new production equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and complete work orders as required.
  • Follow all company safety procedures while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ideally three plus (3+) years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electro-mechanical equipment, and industrial automation.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial control systems.
  • Federal, State or Union issued Journeyman Machine Repair certification or three (3) to five (5) years+ of machine repair experience preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform root cause analysis to prevent repeat breakdowns.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with robotic automation is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
