Fiber Splicer

Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented Splicer to join our team. This role requires regular travel throughout Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Michigan.

The ideal applicant will be willing to perform physical labor, work efficiently, and must be highly self-motivated. This position offers a highly competitive wage and a full benefit package. Training and tools are provided.

• Preparing various types of outside plant fiber optic cables for splicing
• Splicing fiber optic cable
• Operating fiber optic test equipment (OTDR and power meters) for trouble-shooting purposes
• Servicing and upgrading various telecommunication services
• Generating various reports for testing and production
• Performing all aspects of the work in accordance with standards and specifications

• Previous technical field experience preferred
• Ability to read and accurately apply job prints, staking sheets, and splicing details
• Computer proficient
• At least one year of previous splicing experience is desired

The successful candidate will be a demonstrated self-starter with the ability to prioritize and complete daily work assignments without close supervision, although regular communication regarding the status of various assigned jobs will be required.

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds,
• Valid driver’s license with a clear 3-year driving record
• Ability to work in close and confined spaces
• Ability to perform physically exerting tasks with routine exposure to dust, dirt, wind, and temperature extremes
• Shift, overtime, weekend work and/or overnight stays will be required.
