The weekend Mechanical Technician position will be located at Howmet Whitehall Casting. Primary responsibilities will include:
- Assist Facility Engineers with completion of capital projects
- Install, move, or modify plant equipment
- Procurement of repair parts, spare parts, or raw materials as needed
- Update or create new schematics and drawings
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance staff for repairs and modifications
- Create and implement preventative maintenance and repair procedures
This position will begin with training on a weekday schedule before transitioning to the weekend crew, which works three 12-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in a mechanical or maintenance‑focused environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a technical discipline or completion of a registered apprenticeship program
- Experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, equipment installation, fabrication and welding, hydraulics and pneumatics, or plumbing and piping systems
- Good mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading capabilities
- Must be energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good PC skills, good telephone skills, strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere
- Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills
- Ability to work independently and with initiative
