School Social Worker – Special Education – Part Time – Hartford Beginning 2026-27 School Year

The primary goal is to improve the success of students with disabilities in school through service and consultation with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community agencies.

Offsite at Hartford Public Schools 2 days per week. Base location:
Special Services Building, 701 South Paw Paw Street, Lawrence, MI 49064.

• Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• Certification: Michigan approval or eligibility for approval as a school social worker, registered with Board of Social Work, Michigan Department of Community Health.
• Work Experience: Previous school social work experience preferred.
• Skills/Knowledge: School-based consultation and service; IEP development and progress monitoring;
  Special Education evaluation processes;
  Collaboration with family, school, and community agencies.

• Provide a range of services to students as identified via the IEP process.
• Provide consultation and support to families and school personnel to support student success.
• Serve as a liaison to coordinate efforts between school, home, community agencies, and other service providers.
• Perform comprehensive special education evaluations in alignment with state and local policies and procedures.
• Document and evaluate services on a regular basis.
• Demonstrate VBISD principles of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with school teams, parents, and community agencies and providers.
• Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.
• Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines.
• Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor or Director of Special Education.
• Valid driver's license required.

• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
