Job Overview
The MDHHS mission is to provide opportunities, services, and programs that promote a healthy, safe, and stable environment for residents to be self‑sufficient. This position supports the implementation of case plan implementation and permanency planning for socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who receive child welfare services, including child protective services, prevention, foster care, licensing, and adoption.
Responsibilities- Accompany Services Specialists on visits with youth and family members.
- Transport family members to facilitate family involvement.
- Report observations made during visits and propose recommendations to the Services Specialist.
- Participate in Team Decision Meetings and pre‑placement conferences.
- Assist in interviewing and engaging with relatives and prospective adoptive parents.
- Participate in the home study and supervise visits between parents, youth, sibling, relative, and/or prospective adoptive relatives.
- Observe interactions, intervene when necessary, and report incidents or observations to the Services Specialist.
- Completion of 60 semester credits (or 90 term credits) of college with a minimum of 15 semester credits (or 23 term credits) in a human services area such as social work, sociology, psychology, forensic psychology, education, community development, law enforcement, behavioral science, gerontology, special education, family studies, or a related field.
- One year equivalent to a Services Specialist Assistant 9, or
Two years equivalent to a Services Specialist Assistant 10, or
No specific type or amount is required for a Services Specialist Assistant 8.
- Official transcripts signed by the registrar or showing a university seal, or electronically accepted transcripts.
- Resume and cover letter.
- For candidates without a Michigan driver’s license, an official two‑year driving record from the state of current valid license.
- Ability to travel within Michigan and to families’ homes and community agencies.
- For candidates who are current MDHHS employees classified as a Services Specialist Assistant 8/9/E10, acceptance of relocating to this location is required.
The position is located at 325 M 62, Cassopolis, MI. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered within operational limits; selected candidates must work within Michigan.
