General Education School Social Worker
The General Education School Social Worker provides prevention, early intervention, and direct support services to K–2 students experiencing barriers that interfere with school success. The School Social Worker collaborates with students, families, administrators, teachers, and community agencies to identify student needs, develop appropriate supports, provide individual and group interventions, and connect families with community-based resources.
The position supports the district's multi-tiered system of support. Services are primarily intended to support students within the general education setting. This position is funded using At Risk (Grant) funding.

- Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Michigan Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) credential.
- Current Michigan school social worker credential.
- Ability to meet all applicable state licensing, credentialing, and continuing education requirements.
- Successful completion of required criminal background checks.
- Experience providing school-based counseling, crisis intervention, family support, and social work services to students in a K–2 setting.
- Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and student well-being practices, MTSS, PBIS, and behavioral or well-being assessment and intervention planning.
- Knowledge of community-based mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, housing, food assistance, and family support resources.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with students, families, administrators, school staff, multidisciplinary teams, and community agencies.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, confidentiality, professional judgment, and independent work skills.
- Reports to the Fowlerville Elementary building principal.
- Works closely with the principal and school teams to identify student needs and coordinate appropriate interventions and supports.
- Provides individual, small-group, family, and crisis support related to behavior, attendance, engagement, relationships, and school success.
- Consults with staff and families regarding developmentally appropriate, evidence-based strategies for supporting young students.
- Participates in MTSS, PBIS, attendance, behavior, and student support teams.
- Assesses student needs, develops support plans, and monitors progress in collaboration with families, staff, and outside providers.
- Provides crisis assessment, safety planning, intervention, and follow-up support in accordance with district procedures.
- Connects families with community agencies, healthcare providers, and social services and assists with coordinating services.
- Supports staff in understanding student behavior and selecting appropriate classroom strategies and interventions.
- Promotes family engagement and communicates with parents or guardians regarding student needs, progress, services, and available resources.
- Provides staff training and professional learning as needed.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential records in accordance with legal, professional, and district requirements.
- Participates in ongoing professional learning and demonstrates professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and a student-centered approach.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
