Elementary School Social Worker - Long-term Substitute

Tentatively August 19, 2026 - November 30, 2026

• Master's degree in Social Work
• Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504, including special education eligibility process/evaluations and Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning
• Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de-escalation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators

• Collaborate with staff in planning education intervention and behavior management.
• Administer appropriate assessments (BASC, BERS, SEAR's, Connors, etc), interpret results, and provide implications and recommendations.
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
• Serve as a member of evaluation teams, child study, and other teams coordinating the support of educational planning and student success.
• Ongoing communication and collaboration with families on student progress.
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to serve as a liaison between school, parents, students, and outside resources.
• Coordinates with and provides consultation in behavioral and social-emotional areas for general and special education staff and school administrators working with students.
