The Departmental Technician 7-10 position serves as a technical resource for the Business Taxes Unit and will provide a full range of technical assistance for the area, including but not limited to Business Registration, Corporate Income Tax, Flow-Through Entity Tax, Michigan Business Tax, Partnership Audit Adjustment, and Michigan Treasury Online. Responsibilities of the position include documentation of processes and procedures; recommendation of efficiency improvements relating to standard methods of operations including training;
collaboration with other Treasury departments/divisions; performance of complex queries; lead and/or participate in special projects; and assist supervisors and front-line staff with resolution of complex tax issues.
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
ExperienceDepartmental Technician 7
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
Departmental Technician 8One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
Departmental Technician E9One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Departmental Technician 10Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.
Departmental Technician 7Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 8Possession of a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician E9Possession of a bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Departmental Technician 10Possession of a bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Note:
A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying 'professional experience' is counted post bachelor's degree.
