Technical Lead L1

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL on mainframe systems
• Work with JCL, CICS, and DB2 for batch and online processing
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Support billing systems, customer systems, and energy management platforms
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely fixes
• Participate in system testing, code reviews, and deployments
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (business analysts, QA, operations)
• Diagnose and resolve production support issues in a production support + development environment

• Experience:
  
  5-8 years
• Strong experience in COBOL programming
• Hands‑on experience with JCL (Job Control Language)
• Experience with CICS and DB2
• Knowledge of mainframe environments (z/OS
  )
• Debugging and performance tuning skills
• Understanding of batch processing and job scheduling tools
• Experience in the utility or energy sector (nice to have)
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Exposure to modernization tools or API integrations
• Basic knowledge of Java/.NET (for hybrid environments)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Good communication and stakeholder interaction skills

Mandatory skills: COBOL.

Expected compensation range: $60,000 to $135,000, based on location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and experience.
