We are seeking a Software Engineering Intern to help design and build a solution that ingests financial data from multiple file formats (e.g., Excel, CSV, PDFs, ERP exports), standardizes the data, and generates automated comparisons, insights, and variance analysis. This tool will support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes and improve decision-making efficiency.
MainDuties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop a system to extract, transform, and load financial data from diverse sources.
- Build models to normalize inconsistent data formats and map accounts across different datasets.
- Develop functionality to compare financial statements (actuals vs budget, forecast vs prior, etc.), identify variances and key drivers, highlight anomalies or inconsistencies, and implement data validation and reconciliation logic.
- Create user-friendly outputs such as dashboards (Power BI/web app), automated reports, and summary insights.
- Integrate with existing tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, ERP systems).
- Ensure scalability, performance, and data accuracy.
- Collaborate with finance stakeholders to refine business logic and requirements.
- Strong programming skills.
- Experience with data processing libraries and file parsing (Excel, CSV, PDF extraction).
- Knowledge of machine learning or AI techniques for classification, anomaly detection, or mapping.
- Understanding of financial statements and FP&A processes.
- Experience with databases (SQL, data warehouses).
- Knowledge of automation frameworks or RPA tools.
- Experience building internal tools or analytics products.
