Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Freshman Boys Soccer Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for soccer and a commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field. This seasonal position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to foster a positive team environment while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct daily soccer practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
  • Develop game plans and strategies for competitive matches, ensuring players understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Coach and mentor student-athletes during practices and games, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
  • Monitor the academic and athletic progress of team members, encouraging a balance between academics and sports.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff and school officials to promote the soccer program and enhance student participation.
  • Attend all scheduled games and practices, as well as pre-season meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
  • Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or with youth soccer programs.
  • Strong knowledge of soccer techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with players, parents, and school staff.
  • Ability to create a positive and motivating environment for student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
  • A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
  • Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during the soccer season.
