Ferry Boat Captain –
Arnold Transit Company operates the largest fleet of passenger ferries serving Mackinac Island. We are seeking a Ferry Boat Captain available starting in April to support our seasonal service, with the possibility of year-round opportunities.

We are looking for a professional Ferry Boat Captain to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our vessels. The Captain is responsible for passenger, crew, and cargo safety; vessel compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations; and providing strong leadership and exceptional customer service.

• Ensure safe operation of vessel, passengers, crew, and cargo
• Lead and direct crew members
• Oversee passenger and freight loading/unloading
• Demonstrate sound judgment under pressure
• Deliver excellent customer service
• Operate vessel safely and efficiently
• Coordinate and conduct safety inspections
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment
• Report mechanical issues promptly
• Maintain required USCG and company records
• Communicate effectively with crew and Dock Master
• Work a flexible schedule
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• USCG Master License (minimum 100 GT) with Near Coastal or Great Lakes Endorsement.
• TWIC
• FCC Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP)
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Ability to pass all USCG-mandated drug and alcohol testing
