Job Overview
The primary function of the Light‑Duty Tow Truck Operator is to drive a standard wrecker or flat‑bed truck to provide towing and roadside assistance for minor mechanical repairs such as batteries and tires. The role requires compliance with all DOT, company, and safety policies, procedures, and practices at all times.
Essential Job Functions- Operate assigned vehicles, maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, and ensure correct positioning and proper loading equipment.
- Load cargo as instructed at the designated location and secure all cargo for safe transport.
- Maintain logs of hours, vehicle service, and repair status in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Work with dispatch to calculate the most efficient driving routes and inform dispatch and safety of any DOT fines, citations, or other relevant issues.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding potential customer issues such as complaints, spills, leaks, incidents, accidents, injuries, and vehicle problems.
- Communicate with maintenance regarding vehicle issues or needs and report them immediately.
- Keep the truck clean and orderly at all times and perform general maintenance, including checking oil and fuel levels.
- Complete all pre‑trip requirements before each run and all post‑trip requirements at the end of each shift.
- Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low‑lighted work areas, high noise levels, and high stress. May be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner‑city locations.
- Meet physical requirements: push 96 lb., lift 63 lb., pull 130 lb., and climb a ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly.
- Read and navigate road maps and GPS systems and communicate via written orders and instructions.
- Follow company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines plus employee handbook policies, maintain regular and reliable attendance, and exhibit good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers at all times and perform any other duties as assigned, maintaining a state of alertness and safety.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Chauffeur's license and at least 1 year of experience operating tow truck equipment.
- Pass pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
- Pay range: $15.00‑$20.00 per hour depending on licensing and experience.

Monday to Friday, Weekend, Night shifts.
