Company Overview: Tandem Logistics, LLC (subsidiary of Tandem Specialized, Inc) is a freight brokerage operation with decades of experience in the logistics industry. We operate as both a trucking and logistics company, and we are looking to add to our logistics (freight brokerage) team at either our Grayling, MI or St. Louis, MI locations. Tandem is headquartered on Industrial Drive, just off of 4 Mile Road in Grayling, Michigan.
We are in the perfect spot to service the expanding wood products industry in Northern Michigan. Our new building opened in the Spring of 2019 and has become our main terminal. We offer 24‑hour accommodations to drivers and plenty of room to our operations and maintenance teams.
Schedule: Full‑Time, Monday to Friday 7a‑5p
Responsibilities- Source, qualify, and develop relationships with motor carriers and transportation providers.
- Effectively manage existing accounts while proactively identifying areas for new business.
- Maintain constant communication with customers regarding carriers, shipments, compliance, and performance.
- Resolve customer concerns and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Verify carrier compliance, insurance requirements, safety ratings, and operational capabilities.
- Coordinate freight movement from pickup through delivery.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers while maintaining profit margins.
- Prepare various reports (primarily using Excel).
- Provide creative solutions to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Work professionally in a fast‑paced environment while managing ongoing changes.
- Pivot quickly given constant changes relating to drivers, carriers, and customers.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Resolve issues that could affect scheduled appointment times and proactively communicate with customers.
- Multi‑task in a dynamic team environment and make efficient, independent decisions.

- Preference for 1+ years of experience in logistics and/or trucking industry.
- Experience with McLeod or a similar TMS system highly desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- College degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Proficiency in data entry and typing skills; typing speed of 40+ wpm required.
- Professionalism and effective communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to solve problems with critical thinking.
- Experience as a truck driver and/or a CDL.
- Experience as a freight broker or dispatcher.
- A license from the National Dispatch and Freight Certification Association.
