As a Substance Use Counselor , you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals overcome substance use disorders through individual, group, and family counseling using evidence‑based practices. - Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Active SUD Counselor certification (CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LCADC, LCPC, LCSW, LGPC, LGADC, LGSW)
- 2+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment (detox experience preferred)
- Strong crisis management & de‑escalation skills

Job SummaryThe Substance Use Counselor’s role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. The Substance Use Counselor will provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to assist recovering individuals in preventing relapse and promoting long‑term recovery. The Substance Use counselor will use an outcomes‑based approach and evidenced‑based practices to achieve results.
Essential Job Functions- Conduct confidential, quality assessments that are gender‑responsive and trauma‑informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Use a strengths‑based and trauma‑informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external Hygea Healthcare treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
- Conduct individual, group, and family sessions, using evidence‑based modalities and interventions.
- Work with a diverse and passionate team of professionals who share your vision and values.
- Receive ongoing training and supervision to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.
