We are seeking a skilled Millwright to join our talented workforce. This role requires a multitude of skills to be used on a daily basis. The position is in our Facilities and Maintenance group and will need to adjust quickly to changing assignments and complete a wide range of tasks. Responsibilities include building, rigging, painting, welding, assisting with office moves, floor installation, floor repairs, equipment demo, unloading equipment and plant‑wide supplies, moving, erecting, setting up, and preparing the campus for tours, large meetings, audits, and weather events.
Seniority may determine shift assignments. The role has a high probability of requiring off‑shift schedule.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to assist with rigging and erecting building structures and manufacturing equipment.
- Determine proper, safe methods of dismantling a machine to gain access to suspected failed components or faulty parts, and dismantle and remove parts using a variety of mechanic’s hand tools and safe rigging techniques.
- Assist with overhead crane inspections and repairs. Must be capable of working at heights.
- Obtain replacement parts from facilities engineering, OEM, and supervisors. If a particular part lacks a clear engineering definition, the Millwright shall be capable of creating dimensioned sketches that allow reverse engineering and fabrication of the components.
- Utilize basic construction measurement tools to estimate material requirements and ensure rigging/furniture/equipment moves can be done with proper clearance.
- Check work using precision measuring instruments including leveling tools, overhead scales, and digital measuring devices.
- Maintain the facility by providing and assisting with continuous improvement events, cleaning, painting, building, organizing, erecting storage cages, installing doors, windows, walls, and floors while focusing on safe work habits and 5‑S.
- Assist other trades with removal of machine guarding and obstructions to allow preventive and reactive maintenance tasks to be completed.
- Study blueprints, sketches, specifications, and bill of material to plan the sequence of operations when erecting and fabricating components used for storage of plating solutions, sodium nitrate tanks, cranes, hoists, metal stairways, steel balconies, heavy‑gauge steel racks, partitions, steel work platforms, steel beams used in floor support, etc. Install wall fittings, brackets, and other attachments for heavy equipment or machinery.
- Assist with other maintenance duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma/GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years of related work experience, with skills in rigging, carpentry, blueprint reading, fabricating, sheetrock, drop ceilings, and industrial painting.
Salary for this role: $38.00 per hour plus shift differential. ST Engineering considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
Job Requirements- Ability to understand and use mechanical concepts and principles, construction and rigging mathematics, and a wide variety of hand tools.
- Use appropriate PPE and demonstrate a commitment to following safe procedures and repair practices.
- Experience with diagnostics and repair of building structures; interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and assembly instructions.
- Willingness and ability to instruct and assist less experienced mechanics.
- A physically demanding role with exposure to loud noises, potential hazards, and often dirty environments, requiring protective gear, frequent standing, lifting heavy parts, and working in tight spaces.
- Safely operate forklift, JLG lifts, and maintain certifications.
- Ability to run table saws, tile cutters, hammer drills, grinders, etc., to reshape, regrind, fit, and construct. Work to close tolerances depending on job requirements.
