Assistant Program Director – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program
Location:
READS Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, Tucson, MA (satellite program at Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School, Taunton, MA).
The READS Collaborative Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program and School provides a full array of special education services to students who are Deaf and/or Hard-of Hearing for grades PreK - 12+. The Assistant Program Director will support the Program Director in the overall supervision and implementation of the DHH Program and School, ensuring that all policies and procedures follow MA DESE regulations and that day‑to‑day operations maintain a high quality, student‑centered program.
Required Qualifications- DESE License Teacher of the Deaf, Special Education Administrator, or related field
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Fluent in American Sign Language
- Knowledge of general child development and language development as specifically related to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in education, especially as it relates to Deaf education
- Experience with Individual Education Program (IEP) development
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Master's Degree in Deaf Education or related field
- DESE Administrator License as Special Education Director, Principal/Assistant Principal or Supervisor/Director, or ability to obtain
- Experience and knowledge with regard to special education laws and regulations
- Experience and supervision skills in the management of an interdisciplinary team
- Experience with Program Development and Implementation
- Familiar with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing educational research
- Familiar with educational interpreter roles
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Frameworks including the Common Core
- Non‑Bargaining Unit Position
- Work Year: 205 days
- Rate of Pay: $90,000 – $115,000
