About Anchor Academy
Anchor Academy is a therapeutic day school that specializes in trauma‑informed services for students ages 10‑22 with complex trauma histories, mental health issues, educational challenges, and/or behavioral difficulties. The school provides a supportive environment that addresses education, clinical, pre‑vocational, recreational, and behavioral needs. Individual and group counseling, nursing, and milieu counseling are offered in an interdisciplinary setting, utilizing ARC (Attachment, Self‑Regulation, and Competency) and BCC (Building Communities of Care) frameworks.
Certified special education teachers deliver curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework.
- Teach transitional skills to middle and high school‑aged students with disabilities in a professional and organized manner.
- Build, maintain, and collaborate with community partnerships and develop transition plans for students.
- Provide support and guidance for students developing and strengthening pre‑vocational and vocational/job skills.
- Facilitate in‑person and remote vocational classes, ensuring a challenging learning environment while working with students in a clinically appropriate manner.
- Apply and utilize the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks within instruction.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Massachusetts certification in moderate disabilities (or working toward certification by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of the needs of the population served and understanding of a range of interventions and treatments required.
- Experience teaching transitional skills to students with disabilities.
- Experience in a therapeutic school setting is preferred.
- Acceptance of CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and OIG background checks.
- Background and driving record checks will be performed.
- Training in physical interventions and verbal de‑escalations to provide a safe therapeutic atmosphere.
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Compensation$20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience, education, licensure, certifications, and qualifications.
