Town Manager

Town of Middleborough, MA (population 25,000) is a historic and dynamic community located in southeastern Massachusetts. The municipality is a full‑service town with a gas and electric department and an operating budget of $109.4M for FY ’27. The Town Manager serves as the Chief Administrative and Procurement Officer and oversees 270 full‑time and 200 part‑time employees.

• Lead the Town’s administration and procurement functions.
• Oversee the FY ’27 operating budget of $109.4M.
• Manage the town’s gas and electric department and other municipal services.
• Represent the town in collective bargaining and labor relations.
• Coordinate with the five‑member Select Board and the Open Town Meeting form of government.

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, or a closely related field.
• Master’s degree (MPA/MBA) highly preferred.
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive, successful experience as Town Manager, Town Administrator, or Assistant Manager/Administrator.
• Experience in municipal finance and budget modeling.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws (MCPPO certification is a plus).
• Experience in collective bargaining/labor relations.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary range to $225,000; starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Town offers a highly competitive contract and benefits package.
