Job Description
Part-Time W-2 | 5–15 hours per week to start

Rooted Wellness & Apothecary is a private, holistic wellness and skincare studio in downtown Middleborough, and we're looking for an experienced licensed esthetician to help us bring professional waxing and sugaring to Rooted.

Our approach to esthetics is slow, thoughtful, and personal. Rooted was created as a place where clients can step away from the noise for a while and receive genuinely intentional care. Privacy is a big part of the experience here. Appointments are one-on-one, unhurried, and centered around making each person feel comfortable and cared for.

We want our hair removal services to feel the same way.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves waxing and sugaring, understands the importance of skin health, and has the confidence and warmth to make even the most intimate services feel completely comfortable. Technique matters to us, but so does the way you care for people.

This is a new service offering at Rooted, so you'll have the opportunity to build a loyal clientele and have a real hand in shaping this side of the studio.

This is a part-time W-2 position, beginning at approximately 5–15 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow as clientele builds.

Scheduling will be primarily appointment-based within agreed availability. We're looking for someone who wants the flexibility of a smaller studio while still having the support, supplies, marketing, and infrastructure of an established business.

Rooted provides the private treatment space, professional products and supplies, wax and sugaring products, disposables, laundry, Vagaro online booking and checkout, payment processing, and marketing support.

40% commission on services | 100% of client gratuities | 10% commission on eligible retail sales | Monthly performance bonuses based on individual service sales

All compensation and working time will be administered in accordance with Massachusetts wage requirements.

This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have professional body waxing experience and be able to perform services independently and confidently.

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds an active Massachusetts Aesthetician license
• Has professional body waxing experience
• Is experienced and confident performing Brazilian waxing
• Has professional sugaring experience and/or advanced sugaring training —
  strongly preferred
• Has excellent sanitation and infection-control practices
• Understands proper skin preparation and post-service care
• Is comfortable educating clients about maintenance and aftercare
• Is warm, grounded, professional, and able to put clients at ease
• Is dependable and comfortable working independently
• Values privacy, thoughtful service, and building long-term client relationships
• Is interested in growing a regular book of returning clients

Existing clientele is welcome, but not required.

Because experience and technique are important for this position,
two professional references are required
, with at least one preferably being a former salon/spa owner, manager, or supervisor.

Candidates who move forward in the interview process will also be asked to complete a practical skills demonstration so we can evaluate technique, sanitation, client comfort, and overall fit for the studio.
