Activities Assistant for Oakhill Healthcare

Responsibilities

The Activity Assistant is responsible for providing group and individual activities for the residents, promoting an engaging and joyous atmosphere.

  • Assist the Activity Director in the planning, development, and implementation of activities which enrich the lives of the residents
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed
  • Facilitate the activity
  • Work a varied schedule that may include some weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Contribute to an environment that is respectful, team‑oriented, and responsive to the concerns of co‑workers, residents, and families
  • Participate in quality improvement activities (QAPI) as requested
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive Protected Health Information (HIPAA) at all times
  • Provide customer service oriented support
  • Remain patient while interacting with challenged or difficult residents
  • Apply knowledge of activity programs developed to engage adult and geriatric residents
  • Skill in conducting arts & crafts, music, games, and associated activities
  • Demonstrate organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Show strong interpersonal skills
  • Work independently, problem‑solve, and make decisions as necessary
  • Create a resident‑centered environment
Qualifications

A minimum of a high school education or high school equivalency diploma is required. Prior experience in the long‑term care environment is preferred.
