Oak Street 1 North is an adult inpatient unit for those with bipolar and psychotic illness. Our team provides patient-centered care through therapeutic engagement, behavioral interventions and medication management, with the focus on symptom management and safety, ensuring a therapeutic environment to promote stabilization.

Responsible for providing direct care to patients with psychiatric disorder; to ensure the safety and well-being of patients; to support the Under direction of the Registered Nurse, the MHS provides direct patient care and participates in therapeutic milieu.

• Identifies and reports house cleaning problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
• Identifies and reports equipment problems to Unit Secretary/ND.
• Participates in the unit’s inventory system, reporting when supplies are low.
• Initiates activities that assist patients in maintaining a clean environment.
• Initiates activities that promote an organized, safe patient and staff environment.
• Assists patients in their activities of daily living.
• Identifies patient hygiene needs; initiates and implements interventions to meet these needs.
• Provides for patients’ nutritional needs according to unit procedure.
• Assists and reassures patients during tests, exams, and procedures.
• Escorts and supervises patients on and off ground, maintaining patient safety.
• Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
• Completes mandatory in-service requirements.
• Identifies areas of strengths and areas in need of professional development with supervisor.
• Maintains competency for treating age-specific patient populations.
• Seeks constructive feedback, regarding work performance, from peers and professional colleagues.
• Participates in critical incident de-briefing.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

• Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
• Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred
• Experience related experience 0-1 year preferred
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  
  Ability to work well collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
• Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work effectively with patients, other members of the Health Care Team, facility personnel, and families/supportive others.
• Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Successful completion of CPI training is required within 30 days of hire.
