Activities Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and caring Activities Assistant to join our team at Nemasket Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Middleborough, MA. As a vital member of our activity team, you will play a key role in planning, organizing, and directing quality activities for our patients, ensuring their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs are met.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Activities in planning, developing, and directing quality activities for patients
  • Implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all employees, vendors, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
Essential Functions
  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs
  • Chart patient progress and behavior accurately and descriptively
  • Escort patients to and from activities
  • Make regular in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Requirements
  • Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Ability to implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
  • Must perform proficiently in all competency areas
