Job Description:
Mel's Ice Cream is hiring part-time and full-time Ice Cream Truck Drivers for the 2026 season (April through October). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, interacting with the community, and having a flexible schedule. Drivers operate established, well-known routes serving neighborhoods, beaches, festivals, car shows, and private events. Compensation includes an hourly wage plus tips, with a $1,500 sign-on bonus for qualifying drivers.
Compensation: $20–$35 per hour, plus tips
Sign-On Bonus: $1,500
Full-Time Earnings: $1,000–$2,000 per week ($20,000–$35,000 over the season)
Schedule: April through October, flexible part-time or full-time hours.
Operate an ice cream truck safely along assigned routes and to scheduled events. Serve customers in a friendly, professional manner, handling orders and transactions accurately. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the truck, including the serving area and food storage. Monitor and manage inventory, restocking product as needed and reporting shortages. Follow all local traffic laws and safety procedures while operating the vehicle.
Handle cash and card transactions accurately and responsibly. Represent Mel's Ice Cream professionally at community events, private parties, and public locations. Communicate with the office regarding route updates, vehicle issues, or scheduling changes.
Required Qualifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately. Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent schedule during the season. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Prior driving or customer service experience preferred but not required.
