Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing and Coding
Associate degree required (experience beyond the below requirements may be substituted for education)
Required length and type of experience:Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in hospital inpatient or outpatient coding and/or billing is required. Experience may include internship/job training.
Experience with electronic medical record systems required (Cerner, Epic, or similar).
Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel & Word, encoders, and billing software required.
Basic knowledge of charging, billing, and medical necessity is required.
Required licensure, certification or registry:AHIMA or AAPC certification is required.
AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
