Direct Support Professional

This Direct Support Team member skill level will possess the ability to redirect, and demonstrates patience, empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and a detailed knowledge of best care practices.

Position Description

This position provides support for an individual with special needs; coaching individual on independent living, coaching to make wise choices to enhance quality of life and remind him of things to keep him moving in a positive direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Direct Care Worker

Coaches the individual around their home

Coaching in completing basic hygiene tasks

Oversees any required exercises and activities

Ensures that individuals take their prescribed medications

Prepares meals that adhere to special dietary considerations.

Coaches with light cleaning and housework.

Coaches individual how to adopt basic independent living skills.

Helps individual learn to make a budget and complete basic household tasks.

Providing support and assistance during daily activities.

Meets with Life Coach to discuss needs of individuals.

Provides transportation to bowling, the grocery store, and other necessary locations.

Serves as a companion for the individual who live alone.

Organizes activities for individual.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment
Team members may spend the majority of his or her working hours at the individual's residence. Inspire outdoor activities.

Instills comfort by providing a positive home-like environment. This individual is a positive person who can maintain his own personal hygiene and loves bowling and board games.
