Lead Shipping Clerk SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE
We are seeking an experienced Shipping Clerk to oversee daily shipping and logistics operations within our manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for coordinating packaging, processing shipments, scheduling carrier pickups, and ensuring materials are shipped accurately and on time.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on logistics professional with strong shipping experience who can lead day‑to‑day operations, support the logistics team, and maintain clear communication with production, purchasing, and other departments. This position plays a key role in maintaining shipment accuracy, meeting customer delivery commitments, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Salary Range: $28 - $30/hour
The salary range information is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in Ohio. Qualifications and experience, scope of the position, and market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.
Your Challenge- Lead daily shipping and logistics activities, coordinating workload across the logistics team to meet shipment priorities.
- Prepare, inspect, pack, and seal outgoing shipments to ensure products are properly protected and meet company and customer packaging requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, drivers, and internal departments regarding shipment schedules and logistics coordination.
- Oversee packaging and preparation of outgoing shipments to ensure products are properly protected and meet customer specifications.
- Process shipments using parcel, LTL, freight, and international carriers while maintaining required documentation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and export documentation when applicable.
- Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate transportation to ensure on-time delivery performance.
- Track shipments and resolve delays or logistics issues with carriers as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipping transactions within the ERP system and ensure data integrity for order fulfillment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of packaging materials and coordinate replenishment as needed.
- Train and mentor logistics technicians while reinforcing standard operating procedures and safety practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations including DOT, OSHA, and company shipping procedures.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to improve shipping efficiency, organization, and workflow.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and enforce safety protocols within the shipping area.
- Responsible for tracking raw materials. Coordinate the distribution point of material for outgoing material.
- The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area.
- Perform other related duties or functions assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required, associate degree preferred. Additional education or certification in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience processing shipments, packaging materials, and coordinating carrier pickups.
- Working knowledge of parcel, LTL, freight, and carrier shipping processes.
- Solid understanding of domestic and international shipping logistics and related documentation.
- Proficient in ERP systems and common shipping platforms (e.g., UPS, Fed Ex, freight carrier portals).
- Familiarity with shipping certifications and documentation requirements (e.g., NAFTA, MSDS, HTS, EAR).
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Forklift operation certification is a plus.
- Ability to coordinate shipments while maintaining customer delivery timelines and priorities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Experience mentoring or supporting team members in daily operational tasks.
