Job Description

JOB GOALS: To direct and coordinate educational, administrative, and counseling activities of the elementary school by performing the following essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Evaluate educational programs to insure conformance to state and school board standards.
- Coordinate educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teaching activities, and issuance of directives.
- Confer with teaching personnel, pupils, and parents on matters pertaining to educational, extracurricular and behavioral problems in school.
- Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, community organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services.
- Requisition and allocate supplies, equipment, and instructional material as needed.
- Supervise assignment of teachers and pupils to classes.
- Provide a safe, secure learning environment for all students.
- Respond to community needs.
- Make decisions that consider the wellbeing of students and staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervise classroom teachers and support staff within the school organization.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the corporation's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Responsible for appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Responsible for addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Responsible for supervising extracurricular events.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Must hold a valid elementary principal's license.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of teachers, parents, children and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILL:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to prioritize tasks and multi-task.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
215 days per year. Salary determined by the Board.
