full time , days , 40 hr days 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
scope of position:provides independent evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and psychotherapy for adult and/or geriatric partial hospital, intensive outpatient, and outpatient level of care. Coordinates the delivery of patient care as determined by the multidisciplinary treatment planning process. Reports to the clinical services manager .
responsibilities:- performs initial psychiatric evaluations on patients admitted to the program under the supervision of the physician.
- participates alone, or with a co-therapist, in various psychotherapy groups, including activities, educational, recreational, and community milieu treatment groups or programs.
- provides ongoing individual, couples, and family psychotherapy as appropriate for patients.
- participates in treatment services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment coordination.
- maintains accurate, professional documentation of appropriate information as required by hospital policy, joint commission, state, and federal standards.
- maintains professional competency by participating in ongoing clinical supervision and program quality assurance activities.
- maintains and promotes liaison with pertinent community agencies, resources, and families.
- provides inservice and clinical supervision to specified treatment team staff.
- performs all other duties as assigned.
- professional knowledge of psychiatric conditions and their clinical manifestations affecting the adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations.
- demonstrated working knowledge of major psychiatric illnesses as well as individual, group, and family therapy theory and dynamics.
- ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- ability to tolerate stress associated with hostility, abusive language and disordered conduct encountered with patients and families in crisis.
- must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to waterbury hospital procedures.
- perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility .
- master’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing or other related human services field and applicable licensure (lcsw, lpc, lmft, aprn, phd., ladc or associate liscense)
- experienced in the use of the dsm – iv r.
- experience in treatment planning and implementation.
- valid state of connecticut driver’s license
