Summer School-Age Intensive Counselor

Summary

We are seeking two individuals to serve as a 2:1 aide for a child in our Summer program. The program starts on June 17th for training and ends on August 13th after reviews. It takes place at Mary Hogan Elementary School from 8 am‑5 pm (closed on July 3rd). The role requires experience working with non‑verbal students and offers a competitive rate for 40 hrs of work per week (8‑hr days).

• Provide continuous 2:1 supervision to ensure the child’s safety at all times.
• Implement safety protocols to prevent elopement, support communication using alternative communication methods (e.g., communication tablets), and maintain documentation of the student’s day for the family and summer camp staff.
• Aid in bathroom use, including diaper changes.
• Supervise the child at the pool, which includes getting into the water daily with the student.

• Extensive experience supporting students with higher needs and ability to work as part of a team.
• Demonstrated success in maintaining student safety and managing elopement behaviors.
• Experience with escalation techniques and strong situational awareness; able to remain calm under pressure.
• Reliability, patience, and physical ability to respond quickly when needed.
• Must be 18 years of age, meet the education/experience requirements, and pass a background check.
• Proffered qualification: experience in a special education setting; training in CPI and safety care or similar crisis intervention programs; familiarity with non‑verbal communication systems.
