Peer Ambassador
The Peer Ambassador engages in person with students who have questions about the various areas of student financial services - financial aid process, student accounts, and financial literacy. Having navigated the financial aid process and drawing on their experience, the Peer Ambassador provides information, answers questions and assists students with identifying the available resources to help guide students through the areas of student financial services.
This is a Middlebury student Level B position paying $14.95 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
- Complete required training to gain a robust understanding of the three key areas of student financial services – financial aid, student accounts, financial literacy.
- Attend weekly or bi-weekly tabling events at various, high traffic student locations. The tabling event will be 2 hours and there will be a total of 8 tabling events per semester.
- Assist enrolled students with questions about the many facets of financial aid: the aid application process (CSS Profile and FAFSA), work study (where to look for on- or off- campus position), and student loans (eligibility, different kinds of loans).
- Assist students in navigating their Student Account/Nelnet platform including viewing transactions and managing refunds.
- Able to convey timelines for student financial services such as aid applications and bill payment due dates.
- Connect students with Financial Aid Directors/Student Accounts on questions asked that can not be answered at tabling events, such as specific questions about a student's financial aid offer or a balance/refund due.
- Provide information about Middlebury's Financial Literacy platform – iGrad including how to look for upcoming webinars, helpful articles and videos.
- Provide information on the resources available (website, office email address, phone number) to help students with questions about financial aid, their student account, work-study, etc.
