Assistant Professor of Studio Art – Painting
Full‑time tenure‑track position beginning fall 2027 at Middlebury College.
Responsibilities- Teach two courses in painting and/or drawing in the fall, spring, and every other winter semester.
- Guide senior thesis work in painting.
- Collaborate with Studio Art faculty to develop visiting lecture and workshop programming.
- Contribute to the First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings.
- Participate in committee work and assume leadership roles such as director or chair of a program or department when requested.
- Ability to teach traditional painting processes across a variety of media.
- Notable exhibition record and active studio practice that invites student participation.
- Engagement with contemporary dialogue within the field of painting.
- Demonstrated capacity to engage students across the liberal arts curriculum and broaden the dialogue with contemporary art and culture.
Submit a letter of application addressed to the Chair of the Studio Art Department, a curriculum vitae, a PDF with up to 20 images of your own work, a PDF with up to 20 images of student work, and the names of three recommenders (at least two of whom must attest to teaching ability and promise) electronically via Interfolio.
