Assistant Professor of Studio Art – Painting

Full‑time tenure‑track position beginning fall 2027 at Middlebury College.

• Teach two courses in painting and/or drawing in the fall, spring, and every other winter semester.
• Guide senior thesis work in painting.
• Collaborate with Studio Art faculty to develop visiting lecture and workshop programming.
• Contribute to the First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings.
• Participate in committee work and assume leadership roles such as director or chair of a program or department when requested.

• Ability to teach traditional painting processes across a variety of media.
• Notable exhibition record and active studio practice that invites student participation.
• Engagement with contemporary dialogue within the field of painting.
• Demonstrated capacity to engage students across the liberal arts curriculum and broaden the dialogue with contemporary art and culture.
