Overview
The School of Korean at Middlebury College is pleased to announce vacancies for temporary Instructors of Korean. The positions are available during the summer 2026 session and will be located on the Middlebury College campus in Middlebury, Vermont. The 8-week program runs from June 16 to August 15, 2026 and combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. In this program, instructors will engage in teaching, dining, residing, and recreating with students while reading, listening, writing, and speaking exclusively in Korean.
Responsibilities- Teach Korean as a second language in a proficiency-oriented, intensive program.
- Contribute to a culturally immersive curriculum and interdisciplinary modules when applicable (e.g., music, poetry, arts, calligraphy, dance, Samulnori, Taekwondo, or sports—not required but preferred).
- Collaborate with the instructional team to deliver high-quality language instruction and support student learning outcomes.
- Participate in program activities and maintain an engaging learning environment.
- Ph.D. (ABD) or M.A. with strong credentials; DML (Doctorate of Modern Language) may also be considered.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working as part of an instructional team.
- Creative, dynamic, flexible, and easy-going approach with openness to new teaching methods and environments.
- Compensation will be determined on an individual basis as discussed with the Language School director.
- In addition to salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.
- Letter of interest including teaching philosophy.

- Recent statistical information from student evaluations.
