DescriptionMiddlebury College's Summer School of Japanese (SoJ) is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of Japanese. The position is available for SoJ's summer 2020 session and is located on Middlebury College campus in Vermont.
Our unique 8-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners and entails actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and even recreation with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in Japanese.
In addition to a salary, lodging and a complete meal plan are included. Travel costs to and from Middlebury are not included.
QualificationsWe are looking for a faculty member with the following characteristics: demonstrated teaching excellence in Japanese as a foreign language, being native or near-native in Japanese and ability to lead co-curricular activities are an integral part of the language curriculum.
The successful candidate should possess a Master's degree or higher, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success as a member of an instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach will be an excellent fit for the program.
