Job Description
This 16-week travel assignment at UVMHN Porter Medical Center places you in the bustling Emergency Department of a critical access hospital. As a Registered Nurse, you’ll take on 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced environment with a capacity of 10-14 beds, supporting a team of 3-4 RNs with a dedicated ED tech. Your role will involve triage using the ESI scale, managing IV infusions with Alaris pumps, performing EKGs, and assisting with procedural sedation and patient transports, including STEMI, stroke, and trauma cases.
Charge nurse responsibilities are preferred, and experience with Epic EMR within the last two years is required. You’ll experience a variety of patient ages from newborns to geriatrics, working alongside telemedicine and telestroke services. The unique aspects of this assignment include the rural setting, the need for flexibility regarding schedules and holidays, and the opportunity to precept and potentially float to adjacent services in Mississippi, if needed.
Critical care skills, trauma protocols, and comfort with emergency procedures will be essential to success in this role.
