Overview
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ER) travel assignment in Middlebury, Vermont. Start 09/14/2026 for 16–26 weeks. 3x12-hour Night shifts. Weekly pay $2,577–$2,779 per week with 0 guaranteed hours. This hospital ED serves a 25-bed, rural critical access unit with Level IV trauma capabilities and telemedicine/Telestroke support. Typical ED staffing includes 3–4 RNs per shift plus ED technicians, with a charge nurse on-call and one physician scheduled daily.

Emergency Department in a rural hospital with telemedicine support - Guaranteed hours: 0.0
- Provide direct patient care in the ED for a broad patient population (0–100+ years), including triage, assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring.
- Perform IV access, manage drips/infusions, administer medications, interpret ECGs, and apply restraints as needed.
- Respond to critical events, coordinate with EMS, and facilitate transports to higher levels of care when required (STEMI, stroke, trauma).
- Document comprehensive patient care in the electronic medical record (Epic); manage medications via Pyxis and maintain accurate patient records.
- Support specialty testing and protocols (ESI triage, EKGs, emergency procedures, and procedural sedation as applicable); provide occasional on-the-spot bedside teaching or mentoring as needed.
- Maintain a nurse-patient ratio of approximately 1:4 and participate in shift handoffs, with ED charge responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in emergency/acute care; prior ED experience in a Level IV trauma or rural ED setting preferred.
- At least 1 prior travel assignment; previous travel experience required.
- Certifications:
BLS; ACLS; PALS or ENPC; NRP; NIHSS; TNCC. TNCC (or proof of class with date applied) must be included in the packet, and NIHSS is required prior to start. - EPIC experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable).
- Ability to work a night shift and participate in rotating scheduling, including holiday coverage; scheduling may include every other weekend.
- No floating to other units unless specified; the ED operates with dedicated ED RN coverage.
- Credentialing and onboarding assistance
- Ongoing assignment support from a dedicated recruiter
- Clinical and scheduling support throughout the contract
- Access to on-site or remote guidance for ED workflows and certifications
