Unit Specific Procedures and Protocols: (For example:
Drips;
Infusions;
Phlebotomy;
Starting IVs; EKGs;
Transports;
Weaning; Nebulizer to Inhaler; Starting IVs, performing venipuncture, Performing EKGs; Discontinuing sheaths) Client triage scale, IV insertion, drips/infusions, performing EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation, transports via ambulance. Additional Unit Specific Information:
Emergency Department with 10-14 bed capacity. Staffing includes 3-4 RNs per shift and an ED tech 24/7. Charge nurse assigned 24/7. Manager/supervisor on-call on off hours. One MD scheduled 24 hours. Mid-level (PA or NP) scheduled . STEMI, Stroke and Trauma transported to higher level of care and may require an RN for transport. Facility does not have interventional radiology or cath lab.

Porter provides general surgery services. Pediatric patients needing higher level of care are usually transported. Our ED utilizes Telemedicine and Telestroke consultations through UVMMC. When to Work is our scheduling application. Questions for candidates: 1. Do you have charge experience? 2. Would you be comfortable precepting new nurses if needed? 3. Do you have any transport experience or be willing to go on an ambulance transport if needed?

4. Do have any experience working in a CAH or rural ED?

Comments And Notes: TENTATIVE backfill need. Assignment for 16 weeks. Rates are tiered based on mileage - measured by direct line not driving distance. Travel (101 miles ), Radius (51-100 miles), Local (50 miles or less)

ED RN:
No floating required. Charge experience is highly preferred as well as a traveler who can float to MS. A minimum of every other weekend and/or schedule adjusted to meet the needs of the unit and patient care. Holiday requirements must be flexible with schedule. Travelers must work 2 out of the 4 holidays:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Years Day.

Requirements:

AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC required; TNCC, or proof of class with date applied, must be in packet and NIHSS is required prior to start
Previous travel experience is required 1 travel assignment suffices
A minimum of 2 years of in unit experience required
Charge experience is preferred
EPIC experience from within the past 2 years is required and nonnegotiable

Monday to Sunday
No block schedules for any reason
Bi-weekly orientations on Monday
