Tarp Sewer

Sewing Machine Operator – Mountain Tarp, Middlesboro, KY

Hourly rate: $19.00 per hour.

• Receive and interpret work orders and material specifications.
• Sew nylon webbing and reinforce vinyl, mesh, and cloth tarps according to blueprints and customer orders.
• Cut and sew specialty tarp patterns as required.
• Maintain neat, clean, and straight stitching that meets or exceeds customer specifications.
• Operate sewing machines safely and perform floor‑based tasks such as adjustments and modifications to tarps.
• Follow safety procedures, wear prescribed PPE, and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Practice 5‑S: keep the work area organized, return tools to designated places, and clean the area after work.
• Assist in continuous improvement efforts within the department and organization.
• Perform simple maintenance and safety checks on tools and equipment; lock out and report unsafe equipment.
• Carry out additional duties as directed by the Tarp Fabrication Department Supervisor or Plant Manager.

No supervisory responsibilities required for this position.

• Experience operating industrial sewing machines, preferably single or double needle models.
• Knowledge of nylon webbing, vinyl, mesh, cloth tarps, and reinforcing materials.
• Understanding of basic safety and PPE requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
