As a Hydraulic Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems across PD Ports' marine assets and infrastructure. This is a hands-on position supporting the reliability and availability of equipment that is critical to the safe movement of vessels and the day-to-day operation of the port.
Working closely with engineering teams, vessel crews, and external suppliers, you will play a key role in minimising downtime and ensuring equipment remains compliant, safe, and operational.

* Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out fault-finding activities to minimise operational disruption.

* Support planned maintenance programmes across marine and shoreside assets.

* Collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, and internal engineering teams on upgrades, modifications, retrofits, and replacement projects.

* Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault reports, and spare parts inventories through the company's maintenance management system.

* Ensure compliance with company procedures, permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and relevant health and safety legislation.

* Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally possess:

* Previous experience working on hydraulic systems within marine, ports, offshore, industrial, plant, or heavy engineering environments.

* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, mechanical, and associated systems.

* Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical engineering drawings.

* Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards.

* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

* Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

* Marine engineering or port operations experience.

* HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Hydraulic, Marine, or Multiskilled Engineering.

* Experience working on dredgers, workboats, lifting equipment, cranes, or marine infrastructure.

* Familiarity with maintenance management or ERP systems.
