Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, this position is responsible for functioning as a floater between classified advertising where the employee sells classified advertising for newspaper by telephone, email, fax or in person and circulation where the employee assists customers with circulation related needs. These duties are accomplished while delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers.

- Input classified orders correctly into computer system.
- Talk to customers to determine wording, classification, and dates of publication of classified advertisement.
- Calculate total advertising cost for customers.
- Assign box numbers for confidential advertisements.
- Collect payments – issues receipts and releases ads to print.
- Call customers back for ad renewals.
- Upsell customers with attention getters, borders, logo’s, new today ads, etc.
- Make corrections and cancellations of advertisements.
- Keep advertisers appraised of all products and services available.
- Solicit orders for special promotions.
- Make cold calls for new business development.
- Keep records of transactions.
- Place advertisements within a set deadline time.
- Provide excellent customer service over the telephone and in person by evaluating and addressing customer complaints and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Enter changes and corrections in names and addresses of subscribers, carriers, and dealers into the circulation system.
- Enter requests for redelivery, delivery interruption, cancellations, and other services into the circulation system.
- Follow up with customers to ensure redelivery, restarts, starts, and other services were provided satisfactorily.
- Process telephone, in person, and mail subscriptions; process cash or credit payments and when necessary, forward receipts to customers.
- Review subscription date files and send renewal letters to solicit expiring subscriptions.
- Address questions regarding the services The Villages Daily Sun offers.
- All other duties as assigned.
- One (1) years of post high school education; or six (6) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in telemarketing or a customer care center is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Type thirty-five (35) wpm.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel to access, create or modify new or existing spread sheets.
- Operate a cash register efficiently & accurate while receiving cash, credit card or check payments.
- Operate a multi-line telephone system.
- Demonstrate great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be able to adapt well to change in policies, reorganization, and competing job demands.
