- Salary Range: $37.00 – $44.10 per hour
- Travel:
Up to 25% - Dates:
July 13 – August 13 (5‑Week Program) - Schedule:
Monday – Thursday, 6 hours per day
We are seeking a passionate, culturally responsive Summer Art Teacher to design and deliver high‑quality arts instruction for the Department of Youth Services (DYS) Education Initiative. Here, you will use creative expression to engage resilient adolescents, helping them build confidence, process complex emotions, and discover new strengths through visual art or theatre.

Required Qualifications
- Firm belief in a growth mindset for students and oneself.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to connect across diverse backgrounds.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of various art techniques and media; ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their artistic talents.
- Ability to maintain situational awareness and navigate physically demanding, locked environments with calm focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts secondary teacher licensure in Visual Art (5‑12) or Theatre (All Levels).
- Master’s Degree in Education or the Arts.
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.
- Proven success teaching and engaging adolescents who have experienced trauma or systemic barriers.
- Minimum workday: 6 hours per day, start and end times vary.
- Optional:
Additional two hours per week for planning/prep (on‑site or off‑site).
- Licensed Teachers: $44.10 per hour
- Non‑Licensed Summer Only Staff: $37.00 per hour
- Teaching License preferred but not required for all positions.
