MK Services is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team supporting high-precision CNC machining projects for the Aerospace and Defense industries.
In this critical role, you will analyze customer requirements, develop accurate cost estimates, and prepare competitive quote packages that position MK Services as a trusted manufacturing partner. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where precision and timeliness are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Review and interpret customer-provided blueprints, specifications, CAD models and technical drawings to fully understand project requirements and evaluate manufacturability and define specific operations.
- Calculate comprehensive costed Bills of Materials (BOMs), machining cycle times for CNC milling, turning, and other machining, and labor hours, whilst factoring in outside process, overhead, required margins and tooling expenses.
- Identify quote risks, assumptions and exclusions, and clearly communicate these to leadership, prior to quote submission.
- Manage supply chain logistics, and work with our Procurement Team to solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers for raw materials, hardware, and outside special processes (e.g., heat treating, plating, anodizing, NDT, coatings, etc.).
- Compile comprehensive quote packages, including pricing, lead times, assumptions, and technical notes for submission to the customer.
- Review incoming purchase orders against submitted quotes to ensure alignment on scope, pricing, delivery, and specifications; resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
- Collaborate with Customer engineering to suggest manufacturability improvements and cost reduction strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of quotes, assumptions, and historical data to support continuous improvement in estimating accuracy.
- Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience quoting CNC machining work specifically for Aerospace and Defense customers.
- Strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixturing, materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steels, Inconel, etc.), and GD&T.
- Proven ability to develop accurate cycle time estimates and manufacturing routings by minimum of 3-5 years experience of CNC Programming.
- Familiarity with Aerospace and Defense quality standards (AS9100, ITAR, etc.).
- Experience with Paperless Parts estimating software is a strong plus.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to present professional quote packages.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
