One of our clients is hiring for a senior logistics procurement leader to own road transportation strategy, carrier sourcing, and cost optimization across complex, multi-modal trucking networks.
About the RoleThis role leads end-to-end procurement and strategy for road transportation, including LTL, FTL, flatbed, parcel, and specialized bulk trucking. The position combines strategic sourcing, carrier negotiations, analytics, and operational partnership to drive cost efficiency, service reliability, sustainability, and compliance across a large transportation spend.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for LTL, FTL, flatbed, parcel, and bulk road transportation
- Lead carrier negotiations, including rates, fuel surcharge structures, and contract terms
- Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities through benchmarking, lane analysis, and backhaul optimization
- Oversee freight audit and payment systems to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Partner with logistics operations and sales teams to align capacity with demand
- Improve network efficiency through load consolidation, carrier diversification, and backhaul mapping
- Support sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Manage transportation compliance across DOT, FMCSA, HOS, and hazmat regulations
- Contribute to enterprise-wide logistics and procurement initiatives
- Promote and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
- 7+ years of experience in road transportation or logistics procurement
- Strong experience across LTL, FTL, parcel, flatbed, or specialized trucking
- Proven negotiation and contract management expertise
- Advanced data analysis skills (Excel required; Tableau, Power BI preferred)
- Experience with freight audit & payment systems and predictive analytics
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Up to 25%
