As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in advancing our county’s health initiatives by delivering comprehensive, community-centered services that meet state and national standards. This primarily clinic-based position works at the top of their licensure scope to support programs that prevent disease, and address reproductive and family health needs. With the support of the Nursing Manager, this position collaborates with internal and external partners to support comprehensive public health services, contribute innovative ideas, and lead meaningful initiatives that make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.
In our clinic setting, services include contraception, preconception counseling, infection testing and treatment, pregnancy testing and counseling, reproductive health education, immunizations, and communicable disease follow‑up.

The anticipated starting wage is between $63,086 annually and $68,011 annually.
First‑round interviews will be conducted the morning of March 11, 2026.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct assessments; obtain and compile information on the health status of the patient and family; identify other service needs and refer patient or family to appropriate resources.
- Consult with patient physician and other professionals regarding patient and family care.
- Conduct periodic reassessments of patient and family progress, modifying plan of care as appropriate.
- Make client referrals to other agencies or community resources, consult with and report patient and family status to supervisor.
- Provide professional nursing care; perform nursing care within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act and within agency policies; maintain current nursing skills.
- Prepare and submit records and reports as required by agency policy and program requirements; prepare and manage clinical patient and family records; document nursing care and patient and family responses to care; document teaching and patient and family participation.
- Perform health screenings and immunizations; obtain lab specimens; perform health assessments and lab tests based on patient needs; perform lab screenings appropriate for communicable disease follow‑up; review lab screening results, providing referral or other follow‑up as appropriate; ensure that all testing and immunizations are performed following agency policy regarding medical and infectious waste.
- Organize and analyze caseload; respond to new referrals and emergencies as required.
- Attend in‑services and other training sessions as required.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff.
- Perform other duties of a comparable level/type, as assigned.
- Minimum education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. - Minimum of two (2) years of previous nursing experience.
- Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
- CPR and A.E.D certification.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to travel between work locations.
- Background check including criminal record history will be conducted prior to hire; information may be considered in determining suitability.
- Public health and nursing principles, concepts, practice and trends related to community health; communicable diseases, their etiology, transmission, control, prevention and general epidemiology issues.

- Knowledge of processes and procedures used in the conduct of various health screenings performed by public health.
