Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.Properly use kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and food processors.Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.Understand store layout and assist customers in locating products.Stay updated with current and upcoming promotions and ads.Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers, keeping logs.Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.Report customer or employee accidents promptly.Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handlers permit upon employment
