Tenure-track Assistant Professor

Position Overview

Tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University, effective July 1, 2027. The selected candidate will develop an independent research program supported by extramural funding that integrates current biochemical, biophysical, or structural approaches to investigate fundamental problems in the life sciences.

• Develop and maintain an independent research program funded externally.
• Integrate biochemical, biophysical, or structural approaches to study fundamental problems such as nucleic acid structure/function, proteomics, molecular microbiology, protein structure/function, and enzyme kinetics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including biochemistry, advanced laboratory courses in biochemistry or molecular biophysics, and introductory and intermediate molecular biophysics courses.
• Teach one on‑campus course each semester and facilitate a journal club or graduate seminar.
• Establish a laboratory in the new life sciences building, including state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
• Participate in the Ph.D. training program and cross‑disciplinary initiatives in the life sciences.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Participate in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.

• Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related field.
• Postdoctoral experience in biochemistry, molecular biophysics, or structural biology.
• Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
• Ability to develop independent research projects and secure extramural funding.
• Proficiency in teaching biochemistry and molecular biophysics courses, and ability to lead seminars.
