Position Overview
Deputy Design Technical Supervisor – Compression Systems Advanced Engine Programs at Pratt & Whitney. Lead the design team administratively and technically, represent or stand in for the supervisor, and integrate with partner teams to support a range of commercial and military AEP programs.
Responsibilities- Lead the design team and coordinate with the Associate Director.
- Represent the supervisor when unavailable.
- Integrate within AEP CIPT and partner teams, linking modules and system design disciplines.
- Design compressors, modules, and components across civil and military applications (nosecone, spinner, HPC EGV).
- Provide oversight, approval of standard work, product definition, and Product Review Database entries.
- Assist the Design Associate Director in task assignment, planning, manpower requirements, and coordination of in‑house and outsource resources.
- Write and close out Statements of Work (SOW).
- Provide performance feedback, coach, train, and develop junior engineers.
- Drive conceptual engineering and support multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed, and approved.
- Coordinate with other groups (Instrumentation, ED&L, EDSI, Test sites) to advance technology and improve engineering processes.
- Document and communicate results to management.
- Review and approve Engineering task work / EKS.
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years of experience and 5+ years of leadership experience.
- U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
- Experience with gas turbine components, especially compressors.
- Prior team leadership experience with mentorship and staff development.
- Experience in Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, ANSYS, and classical analysis methods.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in engineering or MBA. - Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.
- Ability to work and lead across non‑collocated teams.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and trending skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Focus on results and driving tasks to completion.
Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600.
