Job Overview
At RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, the Structural Analysis Engineer – GTF Commercial Programs is responsible for providing analytical support for the durability and structural integrity of gas‑turbine compressor components such as airfoils, rotors, shafts, cases, and actuation linkage systems.
Responsibilities- Provide analytical support for preliminary and detailed design through development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service.
- Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and perform data‑reduction.
- Support in‑service field investigations.
- Use finite element analysis (FEA) and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic, and optimization analyses.
- Participate on multi‑discipline teams to develop design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight.
- Provide oversight and technical guidance for less experienced engineers and outsourced tasks.
- Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes and methods.
- Document and present results to management and external customers.
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of experience, OR advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
- Experience using finite element methods for stress/deflection, vibration, and performing low‑cycle fatigue, high‑cycle fatigue, fracture mechanics, or kinematics analyses.
- Background in structural analysis of gas‑turbine components.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and task‑coordination skills.
- Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
