Senior Manufacturing Engineer; Onsite

Position Overview

Pratt & Whitney, a leader in aircraft engine manufacturing, seeks a Process Manufacturing Engineer at the Compression Systems Manufacturing Center in Middletown, Connecticut.

• Own specific manufacturing processes, providing direct troubleshooting support to the shop floor and driving improvements across activities such as conventional machining (milling, turning, drilling) and special processes (surface treatment, coatings, welding).
• Identify and implement process optimization and control methods that reduce quality turn backs, escape rates and overall product costs.
• Collaborate with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers and stakeholders to improve first‑pass yield through manufacturing processes.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and corrective actions on non‑conforming products using statistical analysis tools and other methods as needed.
• Lead manufacturing process optimization projects using MRL tools such as Process Control Plans and PFMEA, fully documenting problem statements, observations, conclusions and recommendations.
• Support the project pipeline to select, prioritize and scope projects aligned with business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE initiatives.
• Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews, using scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.
• Lead critical projects that improve manufacturing process capability and quality performance across defined processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, shop floor or similar environment, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a fluctuating work environment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
• Experience working in a manufacturing shop environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.

• Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience.
• Experience with project management tools such as MS Project.
• Experience with PW software tools (e.g., Solumina, SAP).
• Experience with CAD tools (UG/NX) and Team Center suites.
• Experience with statistical analysis software such as Minitab.
• Experience working on rotating gas turbine parts.
• Experience in conventional manufacturing processes.
